Yes, the GSNI-5300-10 gas spring is damped. It uses internal oil to slow the movement near the end of the extension. Please note that it is not damped throughout its entire travel and is not an adjustable soft-close strut. For the damping to operate properly, it should be installed with the rod pointing downward when the door or lid is closed.
