Coleman Mach 9420-382 requires a 12 volt DC power supply to run. A basic 2 wire thermostat system typically does not provide power, so it wouldn't operate the thermostat by itself. It could work if a 12 VDC power source is available to power the thermostat in addition to the control wires.
