On the Dometic 38453 thermostat, the ON/OFF control is a small slide switch with very limited travel, so it will not move very far. Sliding it fully to the left should turn the system ON, and to the right is OFF. If the switch feels stuck or does not click into position, it may be worn or damaged internally. Please check that nothing (dust, debris, or the faceplate) is blocking the slider’s movement. If the thermostat still will not turn on, the unit may need to be replaced.
