Yes, the MTI Industries Classic Series Propane Detector (Flush Mount, Brown) is a common direct replacement for the old CCI Controls 7770/7773 style detectors. The MTI Classic cut out is 5 3/8” W x 2” H hole and your CCI unit was 5 3/4" x 2 1/4", the MTI unit will cover the the small difference. One caveat: some people report the screw hole locations don’t line up perfectly, so you may need to drill new pilot holes (easy).
Wiring: do you cut the Molex and pigtail? In most installs like yours: yes. The MTI Classic uses a 2-wire (red + / black -) while the old CCI often used a 3-wire plug (two reds + one black -).
What you do:
-
RV +12V feed → connect to MTI red
-
RV ground → connect to MTI black
-
The extra red wire from the old CCI harness: cap it off individually (do not tie it to ground). In many RVs it was used for an OEM “remote/mute” or pass-through arrangement that the replacement doesn’t use.
