Usually no, you don’t need to glue UltraTouch radiant insulation down.
What you do depends on where and how you’re installing it:
-
In a wall cavity / stud bay: Don’t glue it. It’s designed to friction-fit, and you can hold it with staples on the facing/straps, insulation supports, or netting if needed.
-
On a flat surface (floor, under a platform, inside a compartment door, under a bed base, etc.): You can leave it loose if it’s trapped (panel goes back over it). If it can sag, slide, or flutter, mechanically fasten it (furring strips/battens, washers + screws, staple + lath, or insulation hangers).
-
Overhead (ceiling/underside of something): Don’t rely on glue alone. Use mechanical fasteners.
If you want adhesive:
-
Use a low-VOC construction adhesive or spray adhesive that’s labeled safe for insulation/fabric and your substrate.
-
Avoid solvent-heavy adhesives that can melt/ruin facings or stink forever in an RV.
