Here are some things to consider and why it’s usually “no” to adding a motorcycle carrier to your fifth wheel
-
Rear frame stress / leverage. The very back of a 5th wheel trailer is the worst spot for heavy loads such as motorcycles. the porpoising effect of the trailer is amplified with that kind of weight so far back on the frame.
-
Hitch ratings are low. Typical factory accessory hitches on fifth-wheels are less than 300 lb tongue / 3,000 lb tow which is well under what a carrier is rated at.
-
Warranty exposure. Reinforcing or swapping the rear hitch or welding to the frame can void or complicate frame warranty claims with common frame suppliers (e.g., Lippert) and some OEMs note this in service/warranty guidance.
