Our sensors are either 12” (710-ES2) or 9” (710-AR) so the sensor length is determined by the height of the tank.
The sensor does not necessarily have to be from top to bottom. We always recommend putting the fresh sensor closer to the bottom and the grey and black sensors closer to the top. If the sensor can extend from the top all the way to the bottom, then that works too.
