(8V92 engine/DDEC-2) System Compatibility Requirements
Silverleaf VMSPC-DDEC VMS To DDEC Diagnostic Port Complete Engine Monitoring
I have an identical (8V92 engine/DDEC-2) system in my 1992 MCI coach, as is referenced in a question posted on your website:
Your reply to the consumer's question, was that the vehicle's DDEC-2 would require all updates to permit the Silver Leaf monitoring software to function fully.
I also read on a coach forum, that an upgraded "micro chip" installation would be required for some DDEC-2 units, to permit the Silver Leaf software to read the speedometer data, and to display various values derived from that data.
Of course, I want to go directly to the qualified source for a complete, and accurate description of the matter, before choosing to purchase your product.
Please respond with as much info as possible, to provide a not-so-computer-savy consumer the confidence to make an informed purchase decision.
Thank you,

Some DDEC-2 ECMs will need a chip upgrade. If your 'identical engine' is noted to require this update then, that seems like the path forward. The takeaway is, if you want to use our VMSpc product at all, you may need to do this upgrade as described. We can know all about our product yet we cannot be the "qualified source for a complete, and accurate description" of how this will work with your sight-unseen engine. Understand that if wanting to purchase and use VMSpc, you may need to do this ECU upgrade. Maybe you'll get lucky and not have to. The question to ask then is, /Does the purchase of this product hinge on having to do the upgrade?/. That's my most qualified answer. Art -Silverleaf Electrolics
