12 to 24 hours is what the manufacturer recommends.
DIRECTIONS: Empty black holding tank, and close valve. Add (1) COMMANDO packet into the empty tank and fill the holding tank full of water. The water level needs to cover all sensors to allow COMMANDO to penetrate and clean any buildup off the walls and sensors. Let product sit in tank for 12 to 24 hours. Driving the unit to agitate can help speed up the process, but is not required. 12 hours is long enough to break down most waste and paper build-up, but in extreme cases letting the tank sit for 24 hours is needed. (1) COMMANDO Black Tank Cleaner packet will treat holding tank capacity of 50 gallons.
