A WIFI range extender requires a relatively strong external WIFI signal, right? Weak signal, weak performance!

My point is, most campgrounds have no WIFI or very weak signals and limited access. So unless you have a strong cellular hotspot, this appliance will not reach optimal performance.

Yes, the KS1000 Swift antenna depends on a good WiFi signal at the campground. This will pick up WiFi from about half a mile away. If the campground has a weak signal then yes that would limit the performance of the Swift.
