It is so hard to crank, I don't believe an electric drill would be able to do it without burning up. Does it stick out far enough from the camper to use a very large manual ratcheting wrench instead?

The Socket Jenie LVSG-875 is 6" overall and the LVSG-877 is 9" overall. A 18 volt drill should lift the camper roof. Set the drill on the lowest torque setting. Also, you may need to grease the lift system. Either one should work but you will need to make that determination.
