It all comes down to amperage. Depending on the trailer, the breaker maybe a 20, 15 or 10 amps. If the cooktop uses more than the breakers rating it's going to trip. Or if there is another appliance on that circuit so that the combined amperage goes above the breaker rating it's going to trip. If this was a cooktop that was installed by the manufacturer and it's tripping the breaker than I would definitely get in touch with them, that should not be happening.

Thanks for your answer. I'm actually researching buying a Scamp trailer without the gas cooktop because I'd like to avoid using gas and open flames for cooking indoors. And I'd rather have more usable counter space. I have used a single induction hotplate (NuWave) in the house, and wonder how well that would work in the trailer, provided, of course, that we'd be hooked up to electricity. I've had a small space heater trip the breaker in a motorhome.
