It would work, if you ran wires and added a control box. This sounds like a non ducted application, I would go with the non ducted blue tooth ceiling assembly, it would be easier than running wires.

I have a MACH 8 SERIES 9,200 BTU AC with controls on the ceiling unit. Would like to have a thermostat to control fan and temp. Currently the fan doesn’t shut off when the compressor stops.
