Does this unit need to have the resin replaced every 300-700 gallons or just regenerated then? (On The Go Standard Softener - BF RV Water Softener with Brass Fittings)

This is a water softener and needs to be regenerated with salt when it's no longer making soft water. The capacity depends on the hardness of the water source. You should not need to replace the resin unless you spill some or can't get soft water after salt regeneration attempts.
