How often should the o-rings be changed, or how long should they be expected to last before changing?

That is a good question. The Gasket/Orings where the valve stem screws onto the sensor should last 3 or more years assuming you are over tightening the sensors to the valve stem. The oring on the base of threads that you see when performing battery changes can last 1-3 years, note you can extend the life by putting a little drop of di-electric grease on your fingers, and rubbing it into the oring, this should keep it moist, and keep it from deteriorating, and getting damaged. DO NOT do this on the gasket/oring that contacts the valve stem when screwing the sensor on the tire, only the Oring at the base of the threads when doing a battery change.
