My WFCO 9800 Converter/Charger, 55A is putting out 15.8 volts w/o the battery connected. can the volts be lowered?

Found my battery too hot to touch. Disconnected it and measured the charger output voltage (15.8 volts). Can the voltage be lowered?

The highest the voltage should read on this WFCO WF-9855 is 14.4V. I reached out to my contact at WFCO for more information on why yours is reading such a high voltage and for some assistance in figuring out what is causing that.
