When the surge protector is plugged into a source of power, it immediately illuminates the LED’s on the front panel to indicate whether or not there are issues with the power source it is plugged into. The surge protector illuminate the LED’s without anything plugged into the outlet on the surge protector. So that you can wait and see if the surge protector says it’s OK, before you plug in the RV. Yes, both the 30 and 50amp models will indicate a low voltage condition. You will just have to take note of which LED’s are illuminated (both color and location), and refer to the legend printed on the front of the surge protector to verify the meaning of the LED’s that are lit. The surge protector is always monitoring the lines. So, it will alert of wiring faults anytime they occur (when first plugged in and anytime thereafter). It alerts of these conditions by illuminating the LED’s, so you have to be there to see them.
