No, that is not normal. I would have to think that there must be a wiring issue. I would take it into a shop and have someone look over the wiring.
Can any of control packages get hot and smell like burning wires? My Coleman Mach gives off a burning wire smell. Coleman Mach 8330-752 Cool-Only Control Package RV Air Conditioners
