I would absolutely clean it first with an acetone based cleaner, you will want to apply it with a rag, do not pour cleaner directly onto your roof. Any old sealant can be scraped off if needed. I would recommend using a tape instead of a self leveling sealant because the tape holds up longer and stronger, as long as it is used correctly. We carry a great brand called Eternabond.
