Especially with any animal(or even kids), you will want to make sure that the step cover can be removed easily for cleaning. If you got a step cover with some sort of tape, you would not be able to take it off to clean it and reinstall it as the tape would probably not stick any more. These step huggers are pretty cool in the fact that they can snap right into place and unsnap to wash and dry and just snap it back in to place.
