That is a very good question. The Girard 2GWHAM tankless water heater works properly at the standard water flow of an RV, which is about 1 gallon per minute coming out of the faucet, that is the average flow of an RV. When you want to use the pump, sometimes it would say that it pumps 3 or 5 gallons per minute, but when it circulates through the plumbing, you get a flow of 1 gallon per minute out of the faucet. The unit can also work with 1.5 or 2 gallons per minute out of the faucet, but when your water flow is higher than average, that would cause the temperature to possibly be cooler, since more volume of water circulates through the burner faster, and for that reason it would heat less. Sometimes water pumps tend to surge or fluctuate and that might cause an issue with the performance of the heater, but turning up the pressure on the pump alleviates the problem.
