The Dirt Devil 4941 has a switch that is activated as the door is open or closed. Door is open the unit will turn on and as you close the door the unit will shut off. If this is not working for you, you may need to replace your inlet door.

I reached out to the manufacturer. They said there are two types of valves. The Vacuflo valve will turn on when you open the door. The universal valve will turn on when the hose is plugged in. This Dirt Devil 4941 is the universal.

This is SUPPOSE to replace the door. Ours broke and trying to replace. But you open door and it doesn’t turn on. Or else it would be running now. Ours turns on when you plug the hose in. Also if you manually turn on the switch for dust pan inlet. The system is the CV1500. Just making sure this would work. Should. But this turns on when you open THEN plug hose in. Always has worked that way.
