Is it possible to use the Model 28217B I-beam recessed on a trailer with enclosed underbelly,if a hole was cut?

If a hole was cut to allow the tire to be recessed be a good or bad idea. Seems the more ground clearance the better.

Honestly, cutting a hole in the underbelly will cause you to lose that protection from debris and insulation in the winter, not to mention it makes a huge open door for mice. I am sure, with the proper knowledge, that it can be done, however, it is not recommended.
