The outer channel that the inner rack tube goes in is the part that holds the gear pack. It sounds like it may be jumping teeth. If the slide out is jumping the teeth on the gear pack, the slide is not adjusted properly. You will need to loosen the head bolts on both sides and run the room in and out a few times. The room will center itself. Then you can adjust the vertical adjustment if needed. Then you can replace the gear packs.
In order to help you find a replacement gear pack, I would need to know if your slide is electric or hydraulic, how many teeth on the gear pack, 15 or 18 etc. Also, I would need you to measure the inner tubes to see what size they are, 2x2, 2.5x2.5 etc..
