To be quite honest, the water softeners are basically all the same. The only differences between the FlowPur and the On The Go for example would be the size. The On The Go(OTG) is taller and narrower, and has a larger hole to pour salt into for re generation, whereas, the FlowPur is slightly shorter and stubbier than the OTG system and you will probably need a funnel to put the salt in for regeneration. Both systems filter out the calcium and magnesium and they come with test strips so if you feel like it is not cleaning your water well enough, you can always test it before regenerating. I will post links below for the OTG systems and the FlowPur as well.
As for the hook up, these hook up outside your RV with a basic garden hose style connection.
