When attached to hose , valve does not open enough to allow for sufficient gas flow for proper flame.

Check to make sure you are getting enough pressure coming from propane tank. Does the hose have a crimp on it that is too tight? There can be many factors that would cause this to happen. Please look over your set up and make sure everything is hooked up properly. If you are still having issues, you may need to contact the manufacturer to trouble shoot other possible issues.
