Is the 50 Amp watchdog surge protector water resistant or should extra precautions be taken to protect it?

Yes, The Power Watchdog Surge Protector is water resistant, but not water proof. It can handle some water from rain, but cannot be submerged in water. It would be a good idea to take extra precautions though to make sure it doesn't get too wet.
