Yes the 501LSW self leveling sealant does work on aluminum horizontal surfaces. It is good for sealing along the roof's edges, around air vents, vent pipes, air conditioners and screw heads. If you are trying to fix a larger leak you could go with alumibond or Eternabond roof seal, linked below.
