Yes, it would work as long as you have the supporting plumbing. You can use ABS pipe or a drain waste and ventilation pipe to extend. You purchase the extension pipe at any hardware store.

The one that's on now is hard to close. Was also wondering if there are extensions,so it's not so far back in the compartment.
