Was this an existing gas spring that used to close for you and now it doesn't? If so it may be that something is jammed or it may have gotten rusted. Or is it a brand new gas spring? If this is the case with it being a 100 lb gas spring you may not be applying enough force. These do take a lot of weight to close.
