I paid $449.00 for it. I put some regular oil in the crankcase as instructed, then I "broke it in" by first removing the spark plug and inserting about a teaspoon or better of oil directly into the spark plug hole. Then, with no plug in it, I pulled the starter rope gently about 10 times to distribute the oil in the cylinder. This prevents a dry start and just may make any motor last longer!
Then I replaced the spark plug, put gas in and ran it on eco mode for about one half hour to break it in, it will smoke for a few seconds until it burns off the oil I put in the spark plug hole but stops entirely. I then dumped the oil, it is only about 10 0z.,it was quite dirty, and put new oil in and repeated the run but adding an appliance, a small heater, 1500 watts for about 10 minutes of the half hour and then ran it at full power. Once again, I dumped the oil which was pretty clean, and replaced it with Mobil 1 synthetic oil. I believe in good break in of motors, sure can't hurt. This generator almost always starts on first pull. I find my Air Conditioner very quiet at the lower speed and very efficient at cooling my Casita. I have heard people say they are loud, I have to disagree on that!!
Source: I learned the breakin procedure on You Tube. A middle aged woman posted it but I don't remember her name!
