You could give it a try. I would have no idea if the PVC pipe would work. Whether or not it would hold up in different weather, be flexible enough, we could not say.
A piece of thin wall PVC cut to length and a slit would work....wouldn't it, instead of the awning cover kit? Awning Pro-Tech A-16 RV Patio Awning Cover Kit - 12'-16'
