The sensors do have a protective coating to protect from road spray. If you believe there will be a more than normal amount of water that gets on the sensors, then you can use an undercoating to protect the sensors. You just have to make sure you use a rubberized undercoating that doesn’t have any spirits that might eat through the sensor. 3M makes a rubberized undercoating that will work.
