The large viewing window allows you to check how much ice you have in your ice basket at any time. When the ice basket is full and the "Ice Full" indicator light will turn on and you can empty your ice into an ice chest, cooler, or freezer bag or leave it in the unit. If you do not need that much ice right away, the water will quietly recycle back into the machine and continue making fresh ice.
