This caddy is indeed made out of plastic, so you would want to keep that in mind when it comes to what you want to put atop of it. The whole caddy weighs only 2 lbs, and has the thickness and density approximately the same as a laundry basket, so while it does have some "give", you could safely stack it with light items.
