With the 16910 when the handle is turned up it flows straight through and when handle is down it closes off the left, so the water flows through the right and down. With the 16914 when the handle is turned up it flows straight through and when handle is down it flows through all 3.

Yes you are correct, the handle only goes sideways to up or sideways to down depending on how it is installed.

It seems that this answer is worded incorrectly. There is no up and down on the handle. Depending of how you are holding it, the handle is either up and then sideways or down and then sideways. Then when the handle is sideways it would close off straight through flow (not close off the left) to allow as you say flow through the right and down. Correct me if I am wrong.
