We would not recommend this Dicor Lap sealant as you would constantly have to monitor and check, physically making sure it is sealed. We would suggest using Eternabond not the caulk but the tape. You can use something like the vent kit linked below, as it has enough for the edge of the flange of a fan. The Eternabond tape is an epoxy style sealant in the form of a tape. When using a roller and pressure it will form a nice strong bond. Hope this info helps.
