When installing the assist rail you have to find the metal structure/studs beneath the siding.

Question: I have a small grab handle on my RV does it have to be removed before i attach the AM-533 rail to the metal studs?
Answer: If it fits between the AM-533 assist rail I don't see why you couldn't keep it on. It will just all depend on how small your grab handle is.
