Thank you for the inquiry. According to the manufacturer, All the information they have comes from the factory that makes this invertor. They checked the wire coming out of the invertor and it is stamped 16 gauge. They also checked their web site and it said 18-gauge, so they changed it. I have also since fixed our site. Below is also a photo of the packaging with the information from the manufacturer.
