So just to reiterate, I believe you are saying that you have a 7 way on trailer with electric brakes and charging system to trailer battery. Using the 4 way on tow vehicle you will be missing the charging line and trailer brake connection. So this adapter will not work with electric brakes. You will need to upgrade the tow vehicle to a 7 way connector, which will include the brake control and brake control wire. You will also need a brake controller. To find you the correct adapter you would need, I would need to know the year make and model of the tow vehicle. Below is also a link to the brake controllers we carry.
