what is the maximum tire width for this bike carrier? and length of opening? (Ultra Fab 48-979030 Ultra XL-Cargo Bike Carrier)

According to the manufacturer, the maximum width for the bike carrier is 2 1/2" and the height from bottom to tip top is 10 1/2", but without the tip is 9" and they said the tire will roll in only about 8" depending on the tire size.
