My furnace motor pulsates several times before running any length of time, then will cut off and on a lot. The heater also stops at times and will not come back on.

Assuming you are refering to the fan motor, I would suggest first checking to see if there are any loose connections. If that doesn't fix the issue, you may want to check with a voltmeter.
