I got an answer from the manufacturer, Yes you can use the Autoformer with Generator.
You can plug it directly in to your generator and then connect the Autoformer
in to your camper. The yellow or Amber light may or may not come on because
your generator may not have earth ground like the shore power and it is perfectly okay
to use it without the amber light on. The red light turns on only when a boost in voltage is
needed. If your generator is putting high enough voltage then the red light may never
turns on.
