can i screw the bracket to the lower horizontal part of the I beam? Instead of the side of the I beam? I am unsure of where potential obstacles are and would rather not open up the underbelly to check.

According to the tech at BAL the BAL 28218 Hide A Spare 70" - 75" I-Beam Frame Underslung Mount Bracket cannot be screwed to the lower horizontal part of the I-Beam as it will not have enough strength to hold it up. He states for a secure hold there must be a minimum of 2 bolts that go through the I-Beam frame to secure the bracket.
