The only time I would say a unit like the EMS would be to much is for someone who boondocks (off grid) or the RV only contains limited electrical items. (vintage trailer) Where the cost of replacing electrical items would not out way the cost of the surge protector. In your case the combined cost of AC, microwave, TV's, DVD, converter and any other electronics let alone the down time to get them replaced makes the Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C Hardwired 30 Amp RV Surge Protector a good choice. I have been running a Progressive EMS unit in my RV and can testify to the quality of the unit. It has performed flawlessly over the past 10 years of use.
