Question: Why is it illadvised to bach up tow vehicle with weight distributing devise engaged?
Answer: With the Equal-i-zer 90-00-0600 sway control hitch, you normally don't need to disconnect the spring bars or disengage the hitch before backing up. This hitch is designed to allow backing and tight turns while the weight distribution and sway control are engaged. The warning about not backing up usually has to do with systems that have a separate add-on friction sway control bar. The Equal-i-zer hitch has built-in 4-point sway control, so there is no separate sway bar to remove. Some popping or creaking during backing up or tight turns is normal because of the friction points in the hitch. Just make sure the hitch is properly installed and within its 600 lb tongue weight, 6000 lb trailer weight rating.
