RV Sani-con warns against running the pump dry for any length of time, so I am assuming a seal inside the pump is probably the weak link. Having used the system for many years, I would take the pump off and make sure the cutting blade was free of any debris, also check and clean the pump vanes. They can get debris on them when there is limited water and block things up.
