Do these tank sensors depend on the tank

RV Tank Monitor System
Do these tank sensors depend on the tank being a "regular" shape? I.e., if they were a simple 12"x24"x8", (for example) the volume is pretty easy to calculate. However, my gray and black water tanks are "stepped" so that the of the tank is longer than the bottom of the tank and the tank drain is in that step at the bottom of the tank. Sorry if that explanation isn't real clear... I could post a picture if that would help. This is a 2006 Monaco Cayman. Thanks.

No. The bottom of my tank is not even either. The result will be the lower the % of fill, the less accurate it will be. The closer it gets to 100%, the more the accuracy will increase. Over time you will learn the actual amounts for a given %. Similar to the gas guage in your car. An option is to fill the tank with a known amount of water (ie, use a five gallon bucket) and record the % at several levels.
