We installed this on a 2002 Jeep Wrangler with the small square tail light housings which I am thinking are the same as your 98. It is tight and we had to mount them through the plate separating the reverse bulb from the taillight. They were not very bright since they were pointed downward. If u go to a shop that does lifts for low riders and does wielding they should have no trouble with it. It doesn't take any room away from storage�
