Answer: The BX1307 is not what you want as it is for 2008 to 2015 Mini Cooper. The BX1303 is for 2002-2006 Mini Cooper (includes S, manual transmission only).

Answer: According to Blue Ox, the baseplate BX1303 will work with an automatic 2008 Mini Cooper Convertible S.
